LONG STORY SHORT
For some businesses and purposes you don’t need much. It’s actually enough to make 100 people know you and see some of your stuff once a week or two.
In other cases, you actually need to become kind of a celebrity.
This is the important question you need to answer: is there a narrow target group I would like to influence and private message, or do I have a real reason why I need to make tens of thousands of people see me on a weekly basis?
Unless you have an answer to this question, you risk being inefficient about all your LI activities.

ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS
Sit completely still in a chair and decide, right now, if you are a sniper or a machine gunner. Are you still pretending you can be both?
If you chose sniper, audit your connections this week and quietly disconnect everyone who has no business being in your niche.
If you chose machine gunner, write 15 post ideas before you stand up. You need to get used to publishing a looooot.
If you chose sniper, learn how to target your audience with tools such as Sales Navigator and Apollo. What good is a sniper without the ability to aim?
Pick the strategy that matches the business result you actually need, not the one that sounds more comfortable at dinner.
Sure, you might combine both strategies. Just keep in mind that being a machine gunner that is as precise as a sniper rifle is even harder. And in some cases, your target audience might even be discouraged by getting too many of your posts on their feed. I’m talking about conservative audience that might have a stereotype about you that publishing too many posts on LI is actually weird.
It’s a simple dilemma but it ain’t that simple to answer. But the worst thing would be you being unaware about this dilemma. So now you know.
